Performing Troupe
Founded in 2008 at the Ashburn Creative Dance Center, CDC's Performing Troupe (CDC*PT) was designed as a dance training and performance program for dancers who enjoy performing locally at a variety of community events. It continues to thrive in its third year.
Although performance requests and opportunities may vary each year, the CDC*PT Staff of six professional instructors and choreographers currently produce 24 dances for approximately 10 annual performances each season. The performance repertoire is divided thematically with 12 dances for the Fall/Winter and Holiday performances and 12 dances for the Spring/Summer performances. Recent performance venues have included appearances at The Dulles Towne Center Mall, The Active Girls Expo, The Cascades Senior Center, Centreville Day, Fall For Fairfax, Ashburn Villagefest, and the Ashburn Library. Requests for appearances are welcomed and may be directed to the CDC*PT Artistic Director, Cheri Est, at 703.724.4900.
The CDC*PT consists of approximately 40 dancers ranging in age from 8-13. PT dancers attend class four hours per week in jazz, tap, and ballet but may also study other disciplines such as contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theater seasonally. Dancers attend an annual week-long choreographic summer camp and the occasional extra rehearsal as needed to prepare prior to performance. Private instruction and choreography is available as well.
Annual CDC*PT Auditions are held in June, but the studio welcomes year round auditions by appointment. Both male and female dancers, aged 8 and older with a minimum of three full years of dance training, are encouraged to audition. Interested applicants should contact Artistic Director, Cheri Est, at CDC Ashburn at 703.724.4900. |
